Artwork Files for DTF Shirt Printing
Prepare the original artwork, intended print size and a reference showing where the design should sit before requesting a garment-printing quotation.
Send the best original file you have, together with the intended print size and garment reference. A filename extension alone cannot prove that artwork is ready to print. Ask the printer to assess the actual file before confirming the job.
Start with the original artwork
If a designer supplied several versions of your logo, keep them together and identify the version that is approved for use. A screenshot of a logo on a website often loses information that was present in the original artwork.
A vector file can be useful for resizing shapes, while a raster image is made from pixels. Either still needs checking: a vector document can contain an embedded low-resolution picture. Do not assume that changing the filename fixes the artwork.
Explain how large the design will be
A small chest mark and a large back design ask different things of the same image. State the desired width or height in centimetres and send a simple placement reference. Avoid describing the size only as “large” or “like the picture”.
Ask which file format, colour settings and resolution are appropriate for the actual print process. MIREN’s accepted specifications need confirmation for the job; a specification found on another printer’s website is not automatically applicable.
Agree what needs to be changed
List spelling, colours, names and any elements that must stay unchanged. Identify who can approve the final artwork, especially when several departments or branches are involved.
At MIREN, artwork preparation and any related charges are agreed with the quotation. Keep one clearly named approved version so that an earlier draft is not sent to production by mistake.
